I grew up with my Grandparents who moved from
their Apache homeland of San Carlos, Arizona
to Bakersfield, California.
Grandpa was a cowboy and followed range work
from different ranches across the southwest until
he took a bad fall and ended up a field hand.
I was just a young boy when grandpa was hurt
and in those times I dearly wanted to be with them.
I stayed to help out where I could and began
to learn the ways of my people and the ways of the horse.
Though we were misplaced from our original
homelands and everyone thought we were
Mexican, in our small home we kept the
traditional life of the Pueblo and Apache people.
I have no regrets for I am a child of this earth.
We are all one and this earth is
eventually where we will go back to.

“The natural beauty of the flute evokes very powerful emotions. The traditional flute is social, not ceremonial, in nature and should always be treated with that in mind and spirit.
My musical journey began when I was young. Drums were a regular part of our lives. In the summer were the war dances, now called powwows. As kids, we would imitate the drummers on my mother’s galvanized washtub.
The very first time I heard the flute, I was a young boy living on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation located in Southeastern Montana. Grover Wolfvoice was the flute man playing this wonderful music. The music was beautiful to my ears, yet it scared me. There was much poverty and depression at that time. The sound of the flute touched my heart, where there was much pain and uncertainty. Through all of the hardships of reservation life, the beauty and wonder of our homeland beckoned to me.”

In 1992, Fire Crow recorded the album, The Mist. Two years later, in 1994, he released a second self-produced recording, Rising Bird. These recordings were sold only at concerts.
In April of 1996, his self-titled release, Fire Crow, was one of the first recordings to be launched nationally on the Makoché label and is one of the label’s best sellers. Echodisc said in a review of Fire Crow, “Joseph Fire Crow is quite simply one of the most gifted players of the Native American flute, this is beautifully recorded.” Another reviewer described Fire Crow as a “national treasure.”
Fire Crow’s follow-up, Cheyenne Nation, combined a soulful mixture of traditional flute and contemporary instrumentation to earn a GRAMMYTM nomination at the 43rd Annual Awards.
In November of 2003, Fire Crow’s Legend of the Warrior received recognition for both the Native American Music Award for “Songwriter of the Year,” as well as the Indian Summer Music Awards flute category winner.
Fire Crow’s collaborative effort with Jim Cockey lead to the composition of “Parmly’s Dream,” from the CD Signature. This release won FireCrow the “Best Instrumental Recording” Award at the 7th Annual Native American Music Awards.
Fire Crow’s latest effort, Red Beads, was released in late August of 2005. Red Beads comes full circle with a return to the traditional. This recording includes Fire Crow’s mother, Elva Stands In Timber. Joseph was honored to have her join him. This release won FireCrow the “Flutist of the Year” Award at the 8th Annual Native American Music Awards.
In 1995 Fire Crow’s songs, "Creator’s Prayer" and "Wind in My Mind" were selected to open and close the best selling album Tribal Winds: Music from Native American Flutes on the Earthbeat label. Ken Burns also chose some of Fire Crow's music to be included on the soundtrack for his documentary "Lewis and Clark: The Journey of the Corps of Discovery.” In addition, Fire Crow is a major contributor to several European releases, including Shaman, Circles of Life and Medicine Power on the German label, Sattva. Most recently, Fire Crow’s music was featured on Public Broadcasting Service’s The War that Made America film. Fire Crow was also a guest artist on Peter Kater’s 2007 album, Faces of the Sun, which earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best New Age Music Album at the 50th Annual Awards.

Early last year I released a track
with Major label recording artist; "Trae" from the "Screwed up Click"….
After doing a few songs with Lil Wayne and Young Jock & Chamillionaire, Trae's hype really boosted my exposure!
As a Native American I am the first Native Hip-hop artist to reach the charts…of any kind.
Radio 1 had my Record "My Dubz feat. Trae" #9 on the "Most Wanted" charts in early 2007;
I also hit the charts in Germany, France, and several other foreign markets.
As for my buzz in the US I have been featured on over 150 compilations,
I had a local cable show in San Antonio TX. Entitle "Smoke in da City". As to my performances I have done upward of 50 shows in the last 2 years.
I have also been very active throughout the industry as a Speaker
and or Sponsor at several music conferences,
Mid Atlantic Music Conference, The Atlantis Music Festival, South-by-South West.

is an independent consultant who
teaches Native American cultural studies.
He is also a nationally known actor,
Native American flutist, blues musician,
spoken word artist, storyteller, poet,
and playwright performing at theatres,
museums, cultural centers, K-12 schools,
universities, and corporations across the country.

Jim Boyd Band
is a three piece group based in
Spokane, Washington, led by
singer/songwriter Jim Boyd.
Jim Boyd (Colville tribal member) is from
the Colville Indian reservation and
is the songwriter, guitar player and lead vocalist.
Jim has performed in several original groups
including XIT, Greywolf, and Winterhawk.
He has shared the stage with groups
from Motley Crue to Bonnie Raitt and now
has six full-length CDs out on his own
Thunderwolf Records label.
He has been nominated for
several Native American Music Awards (NAMMYS),
where he received 2002's Record Of The
Year for his alterNATIVES release.
Jim's music has been included in movies
such as the Miramax motion picture
SMOKE SIGNALS, Fallsaparts FANCYDANCING,
and 2207 Productions TRUST ME.
Drummer Alfonso Kolb (San Luiseño) is
originally from the Rincon Indian Reservation
in southern California. Kolb has also performed
in original groups XIT, Greywolf, and Winterhawk
and currently resides on the Colville Indian Reservation.
He has performed on several of Boyd's recordings
and has performed with Boyd for many years.
Marty Meisner is the bass player for Kyo-T.
He was born in Seattle but has spent most
of his life in Spokane, Washington. Marty was an
Epic recording artist in The Mayfield Four, touring
extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada.
He has performed rock and jazz genres in his
19 years as a bass player.
